Description
A pair of endangered Java Sparrows are perched on a rocky ledge where they are nesting on the North Shore of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi. Also known as the Java Finch or Java Rice Bird, they are native to Java, Bali and parts of Indonesia. In the 1960's they were introduced to Oʻahu in hopes of saving the bird from extinction. They have since spread to the other Hawaiian Islands as well. I do love a success story when it comes to endangered wildlife! The striated rock formation provides a textured backdrop for the birds, creating a natural and rugged environment.

The birds blend in with the rock colors but truly stand out. This one really caught my eye.
